What's new

Latest changes

19 October 2026
  • Patch area (Clean up > Fix holes > Patch area): lock the parts that must stay (white lines), drag a sample box over clean surface, draw round or brush over the gap, then Fill the gap. The copy never goes over a locked part, its colour and shade match the surface all round the gap, and the edges blend in.
  • Auto route: in the Walk-through panel (and Compare step 4, Fly path) press + Points of interest, click the things to show, then Build cinematic route. The camera opens high and wide, arcs round each point looking at it, glides between them above anything in the way, and pulls up at the end. Gentle or Dramatic, seconds at each, and every point can still be dragged.
  • Straighten: Re-detect is the blue main button. Quantities: + Room is the blue main button.
  • Compare: Fine tune has moved to step 2 (Line up), shown once the scan is lined up. Step 3 has a Fine tune link that takes you back there.
  • Compare: Line up automatically is now the first, blue button in step 2. Clicking matching points is underneath as the other way.
  • Buttons: the main button in each panel is blue (Draw area in Site checks, Find the dips in Ponding, Load drawing in Drawing check). Other choices stay grey.
  • Volume: an Open Compare button when the second scan is missing. Sky: scene tiles go grey while Sky & weather is off. Select on the left rail no longer looks like a step.
  • RC: your own car model's wheels now spin and steer (found by their names, or by shape at the four corners).
  • RC: headlights no longer glow when seen from behind the car.
  • Night vision, Retro VHS and Old film now show in pictures and videos, not only on screen.
  • Tabs fix: a scan opened any other way (dropped in, from a job, a converted file) now gets its tab too.
  • Tabs: every scan you open gets a tab under the menu bar. Click a tab to switch (your work on each scan is kept), the cross closes it, + opens another. The dot means unsaved changes. Tabs come back next time.
  • Fix: opening a different scan after cleaning one no longer deletes the same point numbers from the new scan.
  • Fix: the smooth video (F9) now shows the RC car, and the fireworks, rain and lights drawn over the scan.
  • Timelapse: six new change styles: Build up, Top down, Laser scan, Blocks, Sweep and Pop. Pick them under Change style in step 4.
  • Fly path: the heights are yours again: drag them in the side view, or set all points at once with Height and Look down, Set all. The camera glides smoothly between them.
  • Walk-through: Match every point to point N under the side view puts the whole route at one height in one click.
  • Compare: Recent scans in the panel, with their pictures. Click one to add it to Compare; no need to find the file again.
18 October 2026
  • Cut edge: where the height trim slices through walls and buildings, the cut edge is drawn in a bright colour, like a section. Cut edge: on/off and a colour swatch sit under the trim bar.
  • Compare, Line up: Try automatic line-up finds the match by itself and fine-tunes it, no points to click. If it is not sure it says so.
  • Compare, Walk and Fly path: Where each date starts: move the playhead to a place on the route and press Starts here.
  • Walk-through: one point editor: the pop-up by the point is hidden while the panel beside the Plan shows the same boxes.
  • Fly path: the side view shows the one fly height, and Fly height can be set on the bar at the bottom while editing the route.
  • Smoother camera routes: the Walk-through video and the Compare Walk and Fly paths no longer speed up, slow down or jerk round at each point. Same video length.
  • Walk-through: the point list and side view now show when editing in the Prep step (they were squeezed off screen).
  • Compare: two scans with the same date show their file names too, so you can tell them apart.
  • Timelapse: Walk path and Fly path now use the Walk-through route: Edit route on the Plan opens the same markers, camera zones and side view as the Walk-through video; the green Route done button brings you back to Compare. Fly path keeps one height (set Height and Look down in the panel). Video length sets how long the timelapse runs.
  • Compare: the height trim bar (and Model: full height) is back on the right of the view.
  • Compare: Fine tune now starts open in step 3.
  • Compare: dragging a scan in no longer leaves the start screen showing over the left view. A PLY dropped while comparing is added to Compare instead of replacing your first scan.
  • Compare redesigned: one panel on the left with four steps (Scans, Line up, Compare, Timelapse). Every button has words on it. Add a scan from the panel, it opens straight in Line up. Timelapse camera: Still, Slow move, Orbit, My keyframes or Walk path (Still stops the orbit).
  • Key features: bigger drawn icons in blue circles with the text beside them, in the app colours.
  • Help > Key features: the nine headline features on one page, each with a short help page (what it does, where it is, three steps).
  • Your scans: the start screen shows the scans you have opened as picture cards (the picture is taken from the 3D view when you open it). Click one to open it again.
  • Focus view: the scan fills the window with the menus and panels hidden. The ⛶ button at the top right, View > Focus view or Ctrl+Shift+F; Esc brings them back.
  • Plan view: Photo and Points at the bottom left now work. Photo shows a colour picture of the scan from above, Points the grey plan slice (still the default).
  • Side menus (like Tools > Fun) move up to fit on the screen instead of running off the bottom.
  • Tools > Fun is now one submenu: Scanner sweep, Brick world, Paintball, and every look (White model, Clay, Watercolour, Miniature, Cartoon, Blueprint, Pencil, Thermal, Cel shaded, Painterly, Retro pixel, Night vision, Retro VHS, Old film). The Style button is gone from the 3D bar, and the duplicate Thermal is gone.
  • Fun looks in Tools: tilt-shift miniature, night vision, thermal camera, comic book, retro VHS and old film (on screen only for now). Brick world now builds finer bricks on big scans.
  • Clean up tiles no longer have numbers: Remove object, Trim, Fix holes, Looks.
  • RC bar: the buttons are all there when you start the car a second time. Lap times only show once you add gates. The red and reverse lights now light the ground behind the car, not underneath it.
  • RC car: invisible walls on wet or shiny car parks fixed. Those scans have a ghost layer of reflection under the real ground; the car now reads the floor from the real ground, so the open tarmac no longer counts as a kerb (tested on the Hi Res car park: phantom hits down from about half of all bumps to 2 in 120 drives).
  • RC car: no more getting stuck in the open. A few stray dots on their own no longer count as solid, and if the car ends up inside something it can always drive out.
  • RC car lights no longer turn the whole scene darker (the reverse lights in daylight did).
  • The RC bar now goes away when you stop the car.
  • Fun trials in Tools > Fun: Scanner sweep (a laser plane rises and builds the scan), Brick world (the scan rebuilt as toy bricks), and Paintball (click to splat paint on walls and floors; Ctrl+Z takes it off).
  • Rain and snow from inside: looking out of a window or door of a scanned building you now see it falling outside, while none falls under the roof.
  • Delete + fill fills only the real hole: the ground round the removed object is checked, and only the missing part is filled, so good ground near the edge stays as scanned and the fill fades into it.
  • RC car reverse lights: two small white lights on the back while reversing (Rear on the RC bar turns them off with the red lights).
  • RC car: the headlight glow is now lens sized and sits on the front of the car, instead of a big light floating in front of it.
  • RC car rear lights: two small red lights come on with the headlights and glow brighter when you brake. Rear on the RC bar turns them off.
  • Delete + fill clears the space behind: when a wall stands up to 2.5 m behind what you removed, the ground up to it is filled too and the brown blur the scanner left there goes, in the same step.
  • Turning the view after a delete or fill on an LCC scan no longer shows a rim round it: the full scan is drawn round the change while you move.
  • RC car: no more invisible walls on dense (high detail) scans. The floor is read from the middle of the ground, not its underside, and a few stray dots no longer count as solid.
17 October 2026
  • Remove object: Alt+drag round part of the red takes just that part off the pick, for when it took a corner of the car next to it. Alt+click still takes a whole object off.
  • Clean up is four tiles in the order you work: 1 Remove object, 2 Trim (Trim box plus Lasso, Box, Brush and Lines; nothing selects until you pick one), 3 Fix holes (one place for filling, Find holes, Clone, Repeat and Straighten), 4 Looks.
  • Clean up: removing an object also takes the see-through fringe it leaves behind, in the same Undo step.
  • Fix: after deleting something, the RC car and Walk see it gone (their maps of walls and ground are remade).
  • Forked lightning: bolts are a little brighter and wider, reach higher into the sky and fork more near the cloud.
  • Walk: up steps, stairs and ramps one tread at a time (the floor is read from the scan every 15 cm); a rise over 35 cm still stops you. Space jumps about 45 cm. The Walk bar is tidied, with Stop on the right and the keys underneath.
  • RC car: the F1 car replaces the Sports car, with a Colour button on the RC bar (Orange, Blue, Red, Green, Purple, Yellow, White).
  • RC car: Car > Your model drives any car model you load (a GLB file), scaled to toy size, kept for next time. Shift+click Car turns it round if it faces backwards.
  • RC car: headlights that light the scan ahead, on by themselves when it is dark (Lights on the RC bar: Auto, On, Off).
  • RC car: double-click the ground to put the car there, or Place then click. Restart now really starts again, stopped, back where it started.
  • RC car: drives up ramps and slopes; the ground is read from the scan itself every 10 cm, and steps and walls still stop it.
  • RC car: the RC bar is one tidy card like the Walk bar. Walk and the RC car no longer run at the same time.
  • Thunder you can hear: a few seconds after each lightning bolt while you look round (Lightning > Thunder sound).
  • Walk: Sharp on the Walk bar keeps big scans as full splats while you walk, instead of dots.
  • Fix: Volume areas show their size on the label, and with one scan they are measured as stockpiles instead of nothing, so the PDF and CSV work.
  • Fix: F8 copies the view including the areas and other drawings on it; F9 is only the smooth video.
  • Forked lightning: with Lightning on, each flash has a branching bolt in the sky beyond the scan, flickering with the flash, in pictures and videos too. Sky, light & weather > Lightning > Forked bolts switches them off.
  • RC car sounds: the motor is now a real toy RC car recording whose pitch follows the speed (lower on the Monster, higher on the Sports car), a soft thump when it lands a jump, a light knock when it hits something, and a quieter tyre squeal.
  • RC car designs: Car on the RC bar picks Monster (black off-road truggy with lime flashes, roll cage, tall wing, coil-over shocks and big chunky tyres, now the default), Sports (low orange supercar) or Classic (the red buggy). Kept for next time.
  • Fix: spinning the RC car on the spot (W, A and Space) no longer smears the scan at the sides while it turns.
  • Fix: turning fast (RC car, Walk, or spinning the view) no longer runs past the edge of the drawn scan. The scan is prepared wider while the view turns quickly, more so on slower computers.
  • RC car smoother on laptop graphics: Behind (Auto, On, Off) on the RC bar. Hiding the car behind objects costs a second drawing of the scan, so Auto turns it off while driving if the frame rate drops (and remembers on that computer); the car still hides when it stops.
  • RC car: Sound on the RC bar loads your own motor sound (a Pixabay motor loop works well). Its pitch follows the motor and it is kept for next time. Shift+click goes back to built-in.
  • RC car: soft shadow under the car, jumps with real airtime (shown on the HUD) and suspension that lands, and checkpoint gates: G or + Gate puts one across your path, laps go through them in order.
  • RC car drives like a real 1/10 electric buggy: torque from a standstill to 25 mph (Shift 30), tyres that grip then slide, a fast steering servo, wheels that spin at the right speed and front wheels that steer, a body that squats, dives and leans and tilts with the ground, an electric whine and tyre squeal (M mutes) and skid marks.
  • RC car: the buggy is now a solid model (smooth shaded shell, round tyres with tread, spoked rims, wing and shocks) instead of dots. It hides behind walls and cars in the scan and darkens at night. When you stop, the car goes.
  • RC car: now a proper off-road buggy at real toy size (45 cm): red and white shell, big rear wing, knobbly tyres on spoked rims, shocks and arms.
  • RC car (3D bar > RC car, or Tools): race a remote-control toy car round the scan. W/S throttle and brake, A/D steer, Space handbrake to slide, Shift boost, C camera, R restart. It bumps off walls and kerbs and follows the ground. Laps are timed from where you start, with your best lap. A game controller works too.
  • Walk around (3D bar > Walk): see the scan from a person's eyes. Adult, Child, Wheelchair or Dog set the eye height, the slider fine tunes it. W A S D or the arrows to walk, drag to look, Shift faster, Esc to stop. Stop at walls (on by default) stops you at anything solid; untick it to walk through. Torch (T) lights where you look, Dark turns the scene to night.
  • Sky, light & weather > Lamps > Headlights on every car: finds the cars in the scan, works out the back from the red rear lights and puts two lined-up headlights on the front of each (up to 16 cars, nearest first). A number with ? means the front was a guess: click it to flip that car.
  • Sky, light & weather > Lamps > Find lamp posts: finds the lamp posts in the scan (a thin pole 4 to 12 m tall standing on its own) and puts a lit lamp on top of each. A lamp fixed to a wall is not found. Ctrl+Z takes them off.
  • One icon style everywhere: the rail, its menus and the Clean up tiles use the same clean line icons with a soft fill, like the Sky tiles. Each rail group has its own colour (Prepare blue, Look amber, Measure teal, Survey violet); the rail is grey and colours the open group.
  • Style: White model, Clay, Cel shaded, Cartoon, Blueprint and Pencil are cleaner up close. The shape of the scan is now read where each pixel meets a splat, then smoothed keeping real edges, so walls and ground show far less speckle.
16 October 2026
  • Left rail: Prepare, Look, Measure and Survey open only when you click them, not when the mouse passes over. Click again, click elsewhere or press Esc to close.
  • Fix: Clean up no longer jumps from Trim box back to Tidy floaters by itself, so a drag beside the box can no longer select with a lasso.
  • Fix: in Clean up, Trim box no longer draws a lasso when you click beside the box: dragging there turns the view. The same in Repair until you pick one of its tools.
  • Fix: on LCC scans, floaters trimmed with the Trim box (or deleted next to a wall or floor) no longer come back while you turn the view.
  • Clean up laid out like Sky, light & weather: the jobs are tiles with an icon and what each is doing, the settings open under the tile, Lasso, Box, Brush and Lines are one switch, and no button hides under ⋯.
  • Left rail: Prepare, Look, Measure and Survey keep their own names and icons. The group with the open panel is lit, and pointing at it names the panel.
  • Fix: on LCC scans, something you deleted (and filled) no longer comes back while you turn the view.
  • Style: three new looks. Cel shaded (anime-style flat colours, hard light and shadow bands from the 3D shape, thick outlines), Painterly (oil paint brush strokes) and Retro pixel (chunky pixels and few colours, like an old games console).
  • Opening reveal: when a scan opens as Splats it grows into view from where you stand, with a band of glowing dots at the edge, like the XGRIDS viewer. Turn it off or play it again in the View menu.
  • Style: up close, the ground no longer shows as overlapping discs in White model, Clay and the other shape looks; surfaces are smoothed over about 12 cm and lines only show at real steps.
  • New Style menu in the 3D bar: redraw the view as a White model, Clay, Watercolour, Miniature, Cartoon, Blueprint, Pencil sketch or Thermal, live while you turn it, in pictures and in videos. The shape looks use the real 3D shape of the scan. View only: the scan is not changed.
  • Gullies, channel drains and the rain test are now in Ponding only. Floor levels still uses the same gullies and drains for its falls, and has an Open Ponding button.
  • Floor levels in 3D: 3D squares can be Standard, Fine or Finest. The finer squares are drawn once the view stops moving, so turning it stays smooth. For even smaller squares, set Grid to 20 mm.
  • Rain on the block: Overflow shown lets you show the dip's overflow in orange (easy to follow) or in water colour (deep blue).
  • Rain on the block: the moving water no longer smears across the screen when you turn the view.
  • Rain on the block shows the water spreading: thin running water shows as light blue streams, the water on the ground round the block shows too, and the water that overflows the dip is coloured orange so you can follow where it goes. The readout says which other dips its overflow reaches. Rain can now last up to 3 hours, with up to 2 hours after.
  • Rain on the block: moving streaks of water now run across the block the way the arrows point, sped up 10 times so you can follow them, and turn orange where they pour out of the dip. They keep moving when you pause, and show in pictures and recordings.
  • Rain on the block is more real: rain also falls on the ground round the block (2, 3 or 5 times its size) so water from uphill runs in, water runs at the speed the surface allows and soaks into soft ground (pick tarmac, block paving, permeable paving, gravel or grass), and goes round cars. Arrows show which way it runs, and an orange marker shows where the dip overflows, in litres a minute.
  • The record button (Smooth video F9 and Quick record F10) now records everything on screen in 3D: the block, the rain, water, pins and labels, not just the scan.
  • Rain on the block: in Ponding, with Block on and a dip picked, press Rain on the block to watch rain fall on just that block, run down and fill the dip, with a time slider and a live readout. Strength and length are the same settings as the Floor levels rain test.
  • Export > Picture of this view saves what is on screen in 3D, with the water, pins, labels and block, not just the scan. In Ponding the block stands on the same ground the dips were measured on, so a dip no longer sits on a raised step.
  • Ponding pins are coloured by how sure each dip is (green Sure, orange Likely, red Check on site, blue the picked one), on the plan, in 3D and in the dip survey PDF. The block round a picked dip now covers the whole dip and its water is exactly the same size as on the plan.
  • Each dip in Ponding is marked Sure, Likely or Check on site, with the reason (edge of the scan, next to a car or gap, very deep, or close to the scan noise). Hover the plan in Ponding to read the water depth under the mouse. Floor levels now lists the same dips as Ponding, so the numbers match in every report.
  • Red Clear buttons in Ponding, Floor levels, Sections and Volume wipe what you drew so you can start again (Ctrl+Z brings it back). In Ponding, drawing or clearing the area drops the old dips, and the dip survey PDF shows the drawn area and its outline.
  • Ponding is more accurate: depth, wet area and litres are read from finer ground, so a dip keeps its true depth and size, and small dips on sloping ground are found. On test dips of known size the depth is now within a few millimetres.
  • Effects (fires, smoke, the tree and the rest) are hidden behind the scan by the graphics card, pixel by pixel, even while the view moves. View > Hide effects behind the scan with the graphics card switches back to the older check.
  • Saved files get exactly one name prefix (no more EXT_INT_), and the prefix you choose in Help applies to every file.
  • What's new waits until no other window is open.

The same list is in the app under Help > What's new.
